In a surprising partnership that breaks usual forecasts, the game developer has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering free extra story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Mission Disclosed

According to the authorized announcement, "An unusual confrontation leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where hints of forbidden rituals and fearsome changes reverberate through the darkness." The storyline features a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a clandestine group.

The mission concentrates on "strange tests and a fearsome adversary" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Iconic Settings and Metamorphoses

The teaser highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer concludes with a striking sequence showing a character, likely the captive, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Rewards and Extra Material

Players who finish the mission will receive an unique katana alongside multiple artifacts secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Unique implements
• Survey Corps mount

Latest Free Story Update

This release also adds the game's third no-cost story addition, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive skills: Naoe reveals a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This signifies hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime properties. The series previously showcased a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
