In the wake of the latest men's golf championship triumph, England Golf is pressing UK authorities to underwrite their proposal to host the premier women's golf event in the country for the first time.

This elite contest pitting the leading women players of Europe and America has taken place twice in Scotland and in Wales yet never on English territory. An official proposal has been put together to hold it at the Grove venue within Hertfordshire eight years from now.
