Homages Flow for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
Well beyond 14 days subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones continue to honor the duo.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, stated he finally felt prepared to post publicly about his deep grief.
"Adequate time has elapsed that I can now put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "When we commenced spending more time together I understood this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor posted archival material from the film, remarking that he could not remember "a single day without laughter".
"The film is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Values that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I remember you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator
In a separate tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved being with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with everyone, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese added.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Sealed
Recently, a Los Angeles judge ruled to bar the disclosure of the Reiners' autopsy reports, at the request from the local authorities.
A judicial mandate placed a security hold on the files to limit the public release of "related notes, documents, files or images" pertaining to the active case.
The Medical Examiner's office had already determined their deaths were the result of murder, with a official listing citing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Aftermath and Reactions
Following the killings, public individuals shared varying comments.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering controversial remarks that were widely condemned by numerous public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his perspective to the those speaking out last week. Speaking on his podcast, Rogan labeled the comments as "shocking" and remarked they demonstrated a concerning lack of empathy.
Rogan finished by proposing that an aide could have acted when the impulse to weigh in on the death was made.
