Reigning Sabalenka Claims Back-to-Back WTA Player of the Year Accolades.
The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second straight year.
The twenty-seven-year-old captured four titles – the most on tour – including successfully defending the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth Grand Slam singles title.
A Year of High Performance
Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka competed in a tour-best nine championship matches, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.
The star player also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the entire year as the top-ranked player, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.
In July, she achieved the status of being the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.
Record-Breaking Achievements
Sabalenka finished the competitive year with a 63-12 match record, and picked up a record £11m in tournament winnings.
She garnered nearly eighty percent of the votes cast by global tennis journalists.
Later this month, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "help bring women's tennis to a new level".
